YOUR STAFF

We have Tomy, our property manager, who is here every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday to take care of the property. She's super friendly and always makes sure you're having a great time at Cerrito Encantado. Just so you know, Tomy only speaks Spanish. If you don't speak Spanish, don't worry! You can send us a message through the booking service app or Whatsapp, and we'll pass along any requests.

Sometimes, you might also run into Yassira (Yazzi) and Chris on the property. We'll try our best to give you your space, but we're always open to chat and getting to know you better!

If you ever want more privacy during your stay, just give us a heads up in advance, and we'll do our best to accommodate your request.

TIME ZONE

Altavista, Nayarit is in the Mountain Standard Time Zone, which is one hour behind cities and towns south of Puerta de la Lima, including San Francisco/San Pancho, Sayulita, Punta de Mita, and Puerto Vallarta. So, if you're heading south, remember that you'll lose an hour. Please plan accordingly!

OUTDOOR LIGHTS

We've got you covered when it comes to navigating our property at night. We have solar lights in place to guide your way. Here's a breakdown of where you can find them:

  • Walkway between the Garage and La Casa Redonda: Look for lights positioned and labeled in two spots. First, you'll find them to the right of the gated lock garage. Second, they're along the pool wall behind La Casa Redonda.
  • Outdoor Bathrooms: Lights are located to the right of the sink.
  • Pink Building with the Bedrooms: The light switches in this building not only illuminate the walkway on the first floor but also the path between the avocado tree and the outdoor bathrooms.
  • Outdoor Kitchen: Each post in the outdoor kitchen is equipped with a set of lights.
  • Pool House: Look for light switches conveniently placed under the palm tree.

With these lights in place, you can feel safe and comfortable as you move around our property after dark.

GROCERIES

If you're coming from Puerto Vallarta, we suggest stopping by Soriano, which is close to the airport, to get all your groceries. Alternatively, you can find larger chain grocery stores like Mega, La Comer, and Chedraui in Bucerias. For those who prefer to support local businesses, we recommend checking out various stores in La Peñita de Jaltemba.

Here's a handy tip: if you're driving or taking a rideshare/taxi, you can order your groceries online from La Comer Nuevo Vallarta Store at lacomer.com.mx/lacomer/#!/home?succId=413&succFmt=100 and pick them up on your way north.

COMPOST FOR CASITAS

When preparing food, please set all organic waste in a bowl or plate on the counter.

  • After eating, throw the organic waste in front of La Casa Redonda. Don't throw the bowl/plate.
  • Organic waste helps the plants around Cerrito Encantado grow and produce fruit. Examples include coffee grounds, fruit & vegetable peels, seeds, and vegetable scraps.
  • If you can't throw out the food waste right away, leave the bowl/plate in the fridge to prevent odors and keep pests away.

RECYCLING & TRASH

Casitas

We have three trash receptacles for your convenience.
Under the sink:
Non-recyclable waste like thin plastic wrap, plastic utensils, bio waste, styrofoam, and fruit juice or milk cartons.

Outdoors: Bin labeled 'Paper & Cardboard' for paper products and cardboard. No fruit juice or milk cartons. Bin labeled 'Aluminum' for cans.

Bedrooms

There are trash receptacles in the outdoor kitchen that are labeled.

    TELEVISION FOR CASITAS

We have a smart television for your enjoyment.

    • You can use your personal entertainment streaming platform app with your login credentials (e.g., Netflix, Hulu, Youtube TV, etc.). Please note that services may work differently in Mexico.
    • Remember to leave the remote controls on the console and log out of your personal accounts before you leave.

SOUND SYSTEM FOR LA CASA REDONDA

The Casa Redonda has an excellent sound system. You can use the dial to connect your smartphone via Bluetooth or use the provided aux cable.

    SWIMMING POOL

Feel free to enjoy a refreshing swim in our salt-water pool.

    • Please rinse your feet at our outdoor shower to keep the pool clean for everyone.
    • We recommend using a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated. Avoid bringing glass or food near the pool.
    • Keep your pets away from the pool area.
    • Swim safely and remember that the pool is approximately 1.5m/5ft at its deepest.
    • No diving, running, or horseplay.

    LAUNDRY

The washing machine is on the second floor of La Casa Redonda.

Please be careful when removing the cover and opening the washer, as sometimes we find insects, frogs, and other creatures in or around it. If you do come across any creatures, let us know right away so our staff can handle the situation.

When using the washing machine, please follow the instructions.

    • Don't leave the lid open and unattended.
    • Bring your own laundry detergent. If you don't have any, tell us how many loads you need to do and leave a donation in the kitchen utensil drawer.
    • Wipe down the clothes wires on the second floor and between the casitas to avoid getting dust on your freshly washed clothes.
    • Please put the clothespins back where they belong: plastic clothespins in the bucket and metal clothespins in the cloth bag.
    • When you're done with the washing machine, turn it off and put the cover back on.

Due to water limitations, please limit washing machine usage to three loads per week. If you need to do more, there's a local laundromat in La Peñita de Jaltemba or in Las Varas where you can wash and dry.

    WATER

We'll provide a large jug of purified water for drinking (recommended for brushing your teeth as well). If you need another jug, we can give you one for 45 pesos. You can also find water at the Aborates Soxxio in town or at any Oxxo or Baja Market nearby.

    BEER & WINE

Any unopened beer left by previous guests in the fridge is free.

In the casitas, we have a small selection of red and white wines available. You can enjoy a bottle for $350 pesos each. Just leave the money in the utensil drawer or pay us through PayPal.

YOUR DOGS FOR CASITA OR ENTIRE PROPERTY RENTALS

You can bring up to two dogs per reservation. Unfortunately, we don't allow cats.

Remember to bring your dog's essentials: kennel, toys, food, and bowls. Please be considerate of other guests by keeping your pet well-behaved and attended to at all times. All guests, including your furry friend, are here for a peaceful experience.

It's important to keep your dog on a leash and not let them wander in the jungle where they could be harmed.

    BUGS & WILDLIFE

In tropical areas like ours, it's common to see lizards and bugs. We do monthly pest control services to minimize them, but please keep in mind that Cerrito Encantado is located in a jungle, so we share the habitat with native creatures of all sizes.

    • Bring insect repellent for your skin, and we have spray under the kitchen sink for use on the terrace/patio.
    • Keep screen doors closed, especially during the rainy season.
    • Keep the kitchen counters clean, dispose of organic waste properly, and make sure all packaged foods are sealed.
    • Wash dishes immediately or at least rinse any dish/pot with a sweet scent.
    • During the rainy season, remember to turn off all indoor lights before leaving the casita at night to avoid attracting unwanted bugs.
    • And please don't step on stink bugs.

    OUTDOOR AREAS

All areas inside the fence are open to our guests. If there are other guests on the property, please give them space, but feel free to connect and talk with them. To provide everyone with a restful night's sleep, we maintain silence from 10pm to 8am when other guests are present. Keep common areas clear so that paths are not obstructed for others.

    FRUIT TREES

At Cerrito Encantado, we have a variety of seasonal fruits. We'll let you know if you're allowed to pick from the trees or provide them to you if they're in season. Please avoid going through the banana trees as they are home to scorpions. We have Bananas - Manzano & Porta Limón, Jackfruit, Lychee, Soursop, Mango, Avocado, Star Fruit, Coffee, Papaya, and many more. When in season, we hope you get to enjoy the fruit of the land.
