Cerrito Encantado

Arriving from Tepic

Arriving at Cerrito Encantado from Tepic International Airport can be done using several transportation options. Below is updated information including recent first-hand observations.

Driving

When traveling from Tepic Airport to Cerrito Encantado, there are three route options to consider. Two routes are more scenic, while the third uses the Autopista for a more direct drive.

The new Autopista sections between Tepic and Compostela are now open. There is currently a portion that is toll-free while a toll booth is still being built.

There is not yet a direct road link from the autopista to the airport. You must exit the autopista (200D) north of the airport onto Highway 15 and make a U-turn to backtrack through the town of San Cayetano. Local drivers are becoming familiar with this route.

Ride Share

Uber is available in Tepic and can take you to the top of the main road leading to Cerrito Encantado. Because of the distance, it can be costly.

If using ride share, and the vehicle has low clearance, we recommend the driver does not drive down the steep entrance road. Prices are subject to app rates.

Taxis are available from the airport.

  • $1,600 MXN to Guayabitos

Tepic Airport (TPQ) Information

The TPQ airport terminal is currently small. A larger terminal is under construction.

Current notes:

  • No restaurant inside the terminal, only a small snack kiosk

  • Immigration, baggage claim, and customs area is small and can feel congested
